Francesca Woodman used the ghostly and evanescent presence of her body in movement. Her work suggests the passing and the ephemeral, the transitory and fragile. The way she frames her shots fragments and isolates her subjects. Always wanting to disappear, she melts into and loses herself in her surroundings.

My student, Patrick Whitaker was inspired by Francesca Woodman as shown in the following photographs. Often, Francesca would photograph herself in old, abandoned houses. Patrick simulates this with an abandoned barn he discovered.
