Theme Assignment.

This assignment was open for the students to develop a theme according to their interests. They participate in very specific assignments during the quarter which all lead up to this final one. They are encouraged to consider what they have liked to photograph the most and expand on that somehow. The assignment is wide open to their interpretation. Some of their themes were literal explorations such as Jamie Greenes’ choice of reflective and shiny surfaces while others were conceptual or of a particular genre such as portraiture as in Alyson Redding’s work. The first photographs are Jamie’s.

Alyson first photographed her friend and her friend’s daughter for the street assignment. The first few images are from a day that she spent with them in Pioneer Square. She enjoyed them so much that she continued with portraits of them for her theme.  She was inspired by Francesca Woodman and the minimalism of Laura Letinsky.
